As an internal fundraiser, the Sadhana Dojo publishes an annual calendar featuring pictures of the students in the uncomfortable positions typical of Hakko Denshin Ryu Ju Jutsu self-defense practice.

Double Dare Design agreed to design and coordinate the production of their 2003 calendar. We set out to create an attractive, dynamic calendar that would stand out in the martial arts community. Unfortunately, many of the year's photographs were blurred or poorly lit. We devised an illustrative approach that used the strongest elements of the photographs and introduced an attractive, dynamic continuity to the artwork.

We created a mockup and preliminary artwork. Then, one lucky Dojo member received instruction in completing the artwork and preparing the calendar for production. The Dojo member produced the 2004 calendar and instructed another member in anticipation of production in 2005.

The stylish calendar was enjoyed by the Dojo members and set a precedence for calendars that followed in the years after. That's something we're happy about, since it could have been uncomfortable if they weren't satisfied!
