In the context of constant innovation, what strategies can be used to keep exhibits current and relevant? This challenge was at the heart of a new schematic design for the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre. Working in concert with Design Environment of Montreal and Bon Information Design of Vancouver, Double Dare Design responded with a concept for an interactive social learning environment focussing on two themes: Earth Observation and China Stars. Within the framework of a modular exhibit system, the gallery supports group learning activities and science-based exhibitry that engages guests on social and cultural levels. A "Monolith", the architectural centre-peice of the concept, provides central delivery of multimedia throughout the space, and much needed storage and maintenance facilities. The exhibit system allow for the rapid deployment of new exhibits, graphics, multimedia and live program stations as needs arise. The daring schematic design sets an innovative course for future developments at the Centre. December 2006 -- Vancouver, BC Go to www.hrmacmillanspacecentre.com
