In spring of 2003, Iguana Design a high-end fabrication shop for the Vancouver film industry asked us to contribute our creative & technical abilities to help create the signature gadgets & gismos of four feature films. The art department for Paycheck required two high-tech computers for the opening credits. In the scene, Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) reverse engineers a competitor's computer and introduces an update, complete with a fancy holographic display. Working closely with the staff at Iguana Design, we concepted and modeled production ready parts for the two slick computers, known as the "ARC" and the "Nexim". The housings opened to reveal internal circuitry, and included plug-n-play components for close-up shots. We also put our modeling skills to the test with two remote control units. In the film's action packed climax, the props are used by the head scientist of Alcom (Uma Thurman) to control environmental factors in and mobile lab equipment in the "EnviroDome" (Science World). We worked hand in hand with Iguana to integrate circuit boards, digital displays, led level indicators and backlit push buttons. Cut! That's a wrap! Check it out on DVD. Go to www.iguanafilm.com |
