Double Dare was approached in October 2003 by Historical Xperiences Inc. with the exciting prospect of building an attraction in the heart of Vancouver's Gastown district.

The clincher: we had eight months to create nine full scale sets, thirty feet below ground.

Storyeum told the stories of British Columbia's history using a combination of live performances and multimedia surrounded by theatrical sets. Completely subterranean, guests were entertained as they walked through a series of nine sets and historic tales unfold before them.

We met the challenge head on, and the 104,000 square foot attraction opened in June 2004 and ran until October 2006. Double Dare led the development of the set and foyer designs for the Storyeum concept. We coordinated our efforts with HXP's huge roster of artistic, theatrical and architectural consultants and guided the project through the design, construction, and implementation phases.

Translation: five months of designing amidst the mind numbing sound of hydro blasting. That's an experience to remember!
